Driving and Managing Change and Innovation.

We are born as a human being in this planet and change is inevitable. Right from the primitive age humans have undergone change in all aspect of life. We humans aspire more than just the process of survival. Over centuries science and technology have brought in a tremendous change in our life style. We humans constantly seek change and strive to achieve the best. The constant change and transformation in the science and technology has brought in a sense of external well-being.

Change means shift from status quo. As per Webster’s dictionary – “Change” involves alteration / modification / transformation / transition / substitution or plain variance. As Humans we have only two options: Either Change governs us or we govern Change. As per Wikipedia: Change management is a structured approach to change in individuals, teams, organizations and societies that enables the transition from a current state to a desired future state As per Mahatma Gandhi “You must be the change you wish to see in this world ”

Due to the global warming impact, the resulting change in the biosphere is affecting the very process of survival of humans. There is an immediate need to mitigate the effect of global warming on a war footing aggressive mode of action. Al Gore the former Vice president of United States who is currently championing the effort of global warming mentions “He has toured the World around and has spread the awareness of the impact of global warming but he was not able to bring in the change in the people mindset to bring in the necessary action to mitigate the change”. Al Gore dilemma was how to bring the change in form of immediate reactive action.

In Corporate world there are three dimensions to Change Management: As an INDIVIDUAL; As a LEADER; As an ORGANIZATION. Change disturbs the status quo and it affects different people in a team differently- the key is to handle that “professionally”. There is a constant need to manage and drive change and Senior Management looks for leaders to effectively manage and drive the change. One can drive change either Proactive or Reactive. As per my perception proactive change involves planning, preparing and implementing the change; Reactive change involves driving change involuntarily without proper strategy and planning to bring in the effect desired.

IT industries have been affected due to the recession in US. Now there is a need to maintain the operating margin and raise the profit level to meet the numbers and stay put with the competitors. The comfort level position maintained earlier has now changed in to grave level position. There is need to revamp the strategy and plan the investment properly. Senior Management is looking at every investment, opportunity with a microscope. Either the change can be proactive or reactive. Individuals as leaders drive the change that affects the whole organization. Individual has to change to bring in the change effectively. Corporate Guru’s vision is to bring the necessary innovation to survive the bitter competition. Innovation requires change. There is a constant need to raise the bar of each individual.

We have brought in the change externally and this brought in a tremendous comfort and luxury which mankind has not seen every before. Still we see people feel so miserable. We have not taken time to look inwards or bring in the necessary transformation. I can only talk about my experience. My experience with Yoga kriyas practices have brought in a tremendous change and the way I look and perceive life has changed. There is a definite clarity of perception. I feel so energetic and joyous. I do not need an external stimulus. I was a rare social drinker and to feel pleasant I used to have one or two pegs of Single Malt Scotch Whiskey and my preference was German beer. Now I do not need any of the above stimulants and feel like they are like country drink. One does not need an ecstasy drug to feel high. If we know how to channel and balance our life energies (Prana) there are enough Cannabis receptors (OJAS) in our human body to transform ourselves in joyous beings. Individual transformation results in others being transformed and if each one of us undergoes the inner transformation the world will change quickly in to a joyous and loving people in this planet. To bring in a change one has to create the possibility. One has to begin the journey and experience the state of being joyous without the need for any external stimulus.
